White-robed nirvana

Amid the Aravallis, the Tree of Life Resort and Spa, Jaipur offers tailor-made relaxation. From the traditional welcome to your stay in luxurious villas, privacy is the main selling point here. The resort has only 14 villas, some with an outdoor pool and spa space. Picture this: Your very own living room, bedroom with floor-to-ceiling glass doors overlooking a well-manicured garden, white muslin curtains fluttering in the breeze, a fireplace, plunge-pool, a bathroom bigger than the bedroom, outdoor shower and massage beds (the spa comes to your villa).

Yes we got all this in our villa.

When you come here, calm engulfs you and you literally bid adieu to the city life. As soon as we reached our villa, two therapists were sent over to give us a head and shoulder massage. We soon retired into the bedroom. The evenings here are mesmerising, admire the sunset over a hot cuppa or just settle down with a book and let your worries evaporate. The service here is commendable. Whatever you ask for at any time of the day, they try their best to fulfil your demands. We asked for a yoga session next morning, which was organised by the infinity pool that offers open views of the Aravallis.

The spa, Ekam, delivers relaxing treatments. We recommend the Garden of Sisodia, a three-hour long herbal massage conducted amid the lush green garden. If you wish, you could also go to their treatment rooms. But what’s better than an outdoor spa session.

At the lunch or dinner time, a chef comes to you villa to discuss about your likes and dislikes. Then the meals are prepared according to your preferences. We relished a sumptuous Rajasthani meal complete with laal maas and crispy naan. Though there isn’t much to see around except acres of barren land, the resort organises a lot of activities.

If you fancy something romantic, do ask for a table to be set up in your villa garden. You can enjoy your dinner over some folk music and dance. The resort supports locals in a big way; most of the work here is done by local artisans. They also organise a walk to the village school where you can volunteer to teach. If in a mood to learn something, you can participate in chef’s cooking classes. All this luxury, of course comes for a price. The Tree of Life Resort and Spa is not your run-of-the-mill resort, go here only if you seek true luxury.
